Every week I spend time trying to write about how to paint your home or ways to save you money when painting your home. I am always looking for inspirational things to say to Portland homeowners so they can be proactive about homeownership.
This week I have a new topic that is very close to home and is what I built my company off of. Great customer service! I started Absolute Painting 20 years ago this coming November. My original goal was to provide customer service that you would expect from a great restaurant and not a painting company. All I ever heard from people that I would talk to is how horrible their last paint was or how terrible the construction company they had worked with in the past was. It took me awhile to figure it out why this was a problem. In most cases people that own construction companies are either good at what they do and not good at running a business or just the opposite.
I had just graduated from Portland State University with a business degree in 1995 and learned the value of great service. I learned that you need to do whatever it takes to make your customers happy or it will come back to haunt you. I was not sure what I wanted to do for the rest of my life but I knew I wanted to own my own business.
