The most difficult part of any home project is choosing the right team for the job. Most homeowners will get three to four bids for a large project like painting. Here are a few simple things to keep in mind when you go to hire a contractor. Here are some common questions and things to look for when choosing a contractor
* Do they answer phone calls and return them quickly
* Do they offer additional services such as color consulting or home repairs
* Was it easy to obtain a bid from them and how quickly did they get that to you
* Look up their Oregon Contractors License number on the CCB website. This will tell you how long they have been licensed, if they have had complaints or fines with CCB and who they use for Workers Comp Insurance
* Check them out on various review sites such as Angieslist, Yelp, Google, and others to see what people are saying about them
* Tell them what is most important to you on the project such as price, timing, and quality
* Ask them how long the project will take and let them know your time frame
* Make sure they were friendly and willing to address all of your questions and concerns
* Don’t be afraid to ask for references in your area
* Ask them how they warranty the work they do
* Ask yourself who do I trust to work on my home
* Don’t let price be the determining factor on a project that should last you ten years or more
