So my 9 year old daughter is like most girls and thinks that pink is the greatest color ever. If you ask most girls that age what color they want to have their bedroom painted they are likely to say pink.
Many parents on the other hand do not like pink walls so much. I see a lot of really nice kids bedrooms when I travel around the Portland area. As a parent I love getting ideas from others on how they decorate kids bedrooms. The rooms that impress me the most are not the rooms that have all pink walls as I tried that with my daughter at one point. Typically the rooms that look the best have mostly neutral walls. The accessories and furniture are the place the pink stands out the most.
With a full time designer in our office I get to ask lots of questions and learn a lot. One thing I have learned is that too much of one color is a bad thing. I bought my daughters furniture and bedding for her bedroom before I ever picked out paint colors. Of course her room has about seven different paint colors but none of them are pink. The bedding, curtains and lamps all have pink in them which make a great accent to the room. She absolutely loved it when I got it completed.
Now we are working on the older daughters room and she loves blue. Again we started with beautiful bedding and are going from there. The look on a kids face is priceless when you find the perfect combination. In most cases you will both be happy if you do not choose to go overboard with too much of one color.
