At Absolute Painting & Power Washing we do our best to make sure that we have all the expenses of completing the customer’s painting project in the proposal that we present to them. Every now and then we come across something that we just didn’t expect to find after the proposal is completed.

So there I was doing the numbers for an exterior painting proposal, just asking the usual questions…

  1. How much paint do we need?
  2. Do we need to pressure wash the house prior to the painting?
  3. Does any vegetation need to be covered?
  4. How much taping and masking should be done?
  5. How many hours will this take?

I get back to the office, write up the proposal, and email it to the client.

A couple of days go by and the customer contacts Absolute Painting. They tell me that they like the proposal. The numbers are what they expected, that they visited our website to have a look at our employee profiles, and they like the fact that we are licensed, insured, and bonded. The customer signs the contract, we get the materials for the project, and head over on the planned start date.

Our crew leader begins by removing any items that are too close to the home. Grills, bicycles, outdoor furniture, and other assorted items are carefully placed a safe distance from the home. Then what does our crew leader come across? A stack of bricks left against the home for who knows how long. Okay then let’s move some bricks… What does he find behind the bricks? The photo should explain it very nicely.

Siding Damage

As you can see the bricks left quite the impression on the siding of this home. Having the bricks along the side of the home created a place for moisture to collect, a lack of air circulation, and a nice shady area for dry rot to spread. Just a friendly reminder to everyone that you should always store items in a proper place. When you store building materials near your home you not only invite standing water but insects as well. So please remember to leave a clear path between your home and any materials stored outside.

At Absolute Painting & Power Washing we paint, pressure wash, and do construction and remodeling as well. So we were able to make the repairs to this home at a very reasonable cost, which in turn, pleased the homeowner as well.

“We guarantee you will be a satisfied customer.”
