Spring is quickly approaching the Portland area and the housing market appears to be looking better all the time. Homes are selling much quicker now and in many cases selling within days of being listed. If you are buying or have already purchased a home, you may plan to do some improvements prior to moving in. Many buyers in the Portland area plan to wait to move in so they can get the painting or other projects done prior to moving in.
Being a painting contractor we love to help homeowners get the work done prior to moving in as it makes our job easier and saves them money. Our staff is very quick to respond to short notice jobs with a quick timeframe for completion.
Often times we can get a painting proposal to you and have our color expert Beth Hall visit the home within a day to assist with color selection. Just last week we received a request from a new Portland homeowner saying that she needed her home painted prior to moving in on Monday. The request was received on Thursday and the work was completely done on Friday and Saturday. Of course our schedule does not always allow for this short notice type of work but we do our best to meet any deadlines.
Why is it a good idea to paint before moving in? Our crews are experts at protecting your home and valuables when we do interior painting. It just takes us longer to cover all of your furniture and valuables once you move in. The extra masking and moving of furniture costs you money. Often times we need to mask off kitchens and bathrooms while painting which makes it hard for you to use these areas. If we are spraying or using special primers or paints that have more odor it may need to air out for a few days.
Many new homeowners in Portland will call us to schedule the bid at a time prior to closing so we can plan ahead. Of course we understand that it may be impossible to paint prior to moving in every time but if you have the choice, it is always a good idea and should save you time and money.
