At Absolute Painting & Power Washing our goal is to help you save money by doing preventative maintenance on your home. Repairs to your home can get extremely expensive and we see them all the time. In most cases if you take the time to do a simple home inspection or have someone do this for you, you will save thousands of dollars.
In Portland one of our biggest issues is rain and the damage it can cause to your home. It causes dry rot on the exterior of your home if it is not protected well. The rain also causes most walking surfaces to get extremely slippery and dangerous. At Absolute Painting & Power Washing we also want you to avoid costly doctor bills for you and your family. All of that black and green stuff you see on your driveway, walkways and decks can cause slips and falls if not removed and treated. The dangers are not obvious all summer when the weather is nice but it quickly becomes apparent when the heavy rain starts.
You can do some simple things to make this fall and winter safe for you and your loved ones. Take some time to inspect all flat walking surfaces around your home and see if it is slippery. Check for any discoloration in surfaces that may cause hazards. If you find areas like this you can apply a number of chemicals that can help with the issue. Products that you can get at most stores include outdoor bleach or a 30 second cleaner. These will help kill off the growth but may not remove it. If you are hand with a pressure washer you can let the products sit for a few minutes and then give it a good washing. Be extra careful with any wood decking that can get damaged with a pressure washer. If you choose not to use a pressure washer you can just try to use a stiff bristle brush and scrub away. Stained wood and stairs seem to be extra slippery and dangerous so take the time to clean this well.
